Accessibility

We want every provider who buys a course here to be able to take it, and every family who uses our activities to be able to use them. This page sets out what we aim for, what we have actually done, what we know is not right yet, and how to reach a person if something gets in your way.

Our target

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA.

That is a target we work toward, not a certification. This site has not been audited by an independent third party, and we do not claim full conformance. Where we fall short and know it, we say so below rather than leave you to discover it.

What we have done

These are specific changes we have made and checked, not general intentions:

  • Text contrast. Body and supporting text meets the 4.5:1 minimum for normal text on both of the backgrounds we use. We measured every combination rather than eyeballing it, and added an automated check to our codebase that fails if a non-conforming text colour is reintroduced.
  • Form errors and confirmations are announced. If a form rejects what you entered, or accepts it, the message is exposed to screen readers instead of only appearing on screen as red text.
  • Keyboard basics. Every page offers a skip-to-content link, and keyboard focus is visible rather than suppressed.
  • Reduced motion. If your device is set to reduce motion, animations and transitions across the site collapse to nothing. This is applied globally, so it also covers pages we add later.
  • Plain-language status. Where a course gates the “mark complete” button until you have watched enough of the video, the button states how far along you are in words and numbers, not by colour alone.
  • Pages declare their language, and headings follow a structured order.

Known limitations

We would rather list these than let you find them:

  • Course video captions. We do not currently guarantee captions or transcripts on course videos. If you need a captioned or transcribed version of a course you have purchased — or are considering — contact us and we will arrange it for you.
  • KuzminPlay activities. The children's activities are drag-and-drop, designed for a touchscreen with a therapist alongside. They are not currently operable by keyboard, and they do not yet offer a non-dragging alternative such as tap-to-place. This is a real gap, not a design choice we are defending, and it is on our list.
  • One colour combination. White text on our teal buttons and labels measures 4.48:1, just under the 4.5:1 minimum for smaller text. It is legible, and it is not yet corrected.
  • Third-party components. The video player, the payment fields at checkout, and the bot check on our forms are provided by Vimeo, Stripe and Cloudflare respectively. We choose them and can replace them, but we do not control their internals and cannot warrant their conformance.
  • Certificate PDFs. Our certificates are generated as PDFs and have not been verified as tagged, screen-reader-accessible documents. If you need your certificate in another format, ask and we will send one.
  • Older content. Courses and posts migrated from our previous website have not all been re-checked to the standard above.

Accommodations, and VPAT requests

If something here stops you completing a course you have paid for, tell us and we will find another way to get it to you — a transcript, an alternative format, or a walkthrough with a person.

If you are buying on behalf of a school district, university, or agency and your procurement process requires a VPAT or an accessibility conformance report, contact us before purchasing. We will tell you honestly what we can and cannot supply, and we will not sell you something your accessibility review is going to reject.

Tell us what is broken

Email info@kuzminslp.com with “Accessibility” in the subject line. It helps if you can tell us the page, what you were trying to do, and what happened instead — and what you use to browse, if you are comfortable sharing it, because that often tells us more than anything else.

We aim to reply within five business days. If we cannot fix something quickly, we will tell you what we are doing about it and give you a way to get what you needed in the meantime.
