A few little invitations to connect.
Follow the child’s lead and make it your own.
Find and name familiar things in the room.
Choose a cutout and talk about where it belongs.
Say goodnight to the objects, then gently close the room.
Print single-sided on US Letter paper at Actual size / 100%, with automatic portrait/landscape orientation. Pages 1 and 2 are portrait room halves; page 3 is landscape cutouts. Keep the same scale for every page. Do not use booklet printing, duplex, or Fit to page.
Trim the RIGHT white margin of page 1 and the LEFT white margin of page 2 along the dashed image edges. Align the room halves edge to edge without overlapping the artwork, tape the seam on the back, then fold gently along the join. The room opens like a book to approximately 16 × 10.35 inches.
These activities are prepared by the SLP before the session; children do not cut out the pieces. Use paper or cardstock and cut out all pieces. We recommend laminating the cutouts for added durability and long-lasting, repeated use. Glue Velcro (hook-and-loop fasteners) to the pieces and corresponding attachment points, rather than gluing the pieces together. Let the glue dry fully so the child can attach, remove and reattach the pieces during supervised sessions.
